Meet our Team
There’s a lot to do at Scorch Garden and we have some of the best at what they do doing what they do here.
I oversee all the day to day operations of the business so if anything goes wrong, it’s on me. It’s my job to make sure we all perform in line with our company’s core values:
Make a clean, whole food.
Work smart and hard.
Do it honestly.
This is the scariest, most fun endeavor i’ve done since i packed up and left my hometown to see what i could make of myself in my early 20s.
I handle all things in the gardens. I make sure we have seeds, compost, land, as well as growing the peppers, garlic, onions, and herbs. It’s also up to me to find other like-minded growers to supply us with clean produce.
The Mighty Bud Bud protects the gardens from flying and scurrying critters that mean harm to our beloved plants. He’s a tiger and he’s orange and he roars. He loves to run and jump and bite and eat and play and fight. He’s the greatest kitty in the world.
I manage all of the kitchen production. I clean and ferment the peppers, develop recipes and processes, bottle the sauces, and keep records of all the times, temps, and pH levels. I have my FDA Better Process and ServSave certifications along with local health department food safety management training.
It’s a lot of fun working with the produce and the chemistry and blending of ingredients. It’s not so much fun washing all the dishes and scrubbing down the kitchen constantly, but it is a point of pride to have a spotless work area.
I pay the bills, set and balance the budget. I have to file all of the business’ permits, inspections, registrations, and certifications. I’m also the keeper of all the equipment manuals and their warrantees.
This job sucks. Everyone else gets to do something fun. The most excitement i get is locating all the receipts i need to files taxes.
You’ll find me handing out samples at various farmer’s markets around the Pittsburgh area. I set up our market schedule and get us signed up for events. I pack up the Scorch Wagon, set up the booth, sell to the customers, and take it down. I also handle the online sales.
It’s a lot of fun being out in the field. I get to tell jokes while reciting a sales pitch and people get a product they like. At the end of the day, i’m glorified retail worker.
I put together the graphics and artwork for the website, bottle labels, and booth signage. I produce the animations and work with marketing to create content for our social media platforms.
I’ve been working with computer graphics for over 30 years, both 2D and 3D. I’m an accomplished musician, an award winning animator, and an expert in audio/video non-linear editing. The most fun project i got to do was making the graphics for the Scorch Wagon.
I run Scorch Garden’s social media platforms. I have extensive experience in retail management and customer service. I go to a lot of the markets and events as well.
You can thank me for Ruby Flame. It was my idea. Now, that’s what they pay me with. I’m also sleeping with most of the staff.
I’m the one that keeps the building running properly and up to code. If something needs fixed, that’s me. If something needs installed, that’s me. If something heavy needs moved, that usually ends up being me as well.
I get to work with my hands and solve every sort of mechanical problem, or find an expert who can help. With a kitchen and all of its equipment, the garden and its tools, and the market booth and stuff, there’s always something for me to tinker with.
Someone else will do that job. Well, that’s me. I never get a full day off and i’m the last to to get paid.
I absolutely love it and hope to be here for many years. I mean, who doesn’t love everything hot sauce has to offer? I totally have the hots for the girl in marketing.
Do you enjoy the burn?
